Islamic Studies Programme

Programme Outline

This Islamic Studies Programme is designed for learners across different stages of development to build a strong, balanced, and practical understanding of Islam. The programme combines essential knowledge, spiritual development, and real-life application to help students grow in faith, character, and confidence in practising Islam.


The curriculum is structured progressively and includes:


- Foundational Islamic beliefs and practice

- Prophetic history and the lives of the Ṣaḥābah

- Worship and practical rulings (Fiqh)

- Personal development and Islamic character

- Understanding contemporary Muslim life


Lessons are delivered through engaging teaching methods including storytelling, discussion, reflection, and practical application.

Year 1

Overview

Year 1 focuses on building a strong foundation in Islam by introducing core beliefs, basic acts of worship, essential rulings, and key themes in Islamic history and spirituality. Students develop an understanding of who Allāh is, how to worship Him, and how Islam shapes daily life.

The basics of Islām

Belief in Allāh and the truth of Islām

The Ḥadīth of Jibrīl

Qadar (divine decree) through the story of Mūsā and Khiḍr

The Qurʾān as guidance from the Creator

> Worship and Islamic Practice

Purification and wuḍūʾ

The Qiblah

Rulings of ṣalāh, including doubts, masbūq, and lāhiq

Ṣalāh in exceptional circumstances

Jumuʿah prayer

Fasting, iʿtikāf, Zakāh, and Ṣadaqah

The days of Eid

> Sīrah, Prophets & Islamic History

The life of the Prophet ﷺ (timeline overview)

Stories of Prophet Yūsuf عليه السلام (Part 1 & 2)

Year 2 & 3

Overview

Years 2 and 3 provide a deeper and more advanced study of Islām, expanding students’ understanding of theology, worship, history, spirituality, and contemporary issues. The programme aims to develop well-rounded Muslims who understand their faith intellectually, spiritually, and practically.

Belief in the existence of Allāh

Ālam al-Ghayb (the unseen world)

Divine justice and wisdom (ʿAdl and Faḍl)

The Qurʾān: revelation and preservation

> Worship and Islamic Practice (Fiqh)

Voluntary prayers and perfecting ṣalāh

Imāmah (leading prayer)

Ḥajj and ʿUmrah

Money matters: rulings and obligations

Death and burial

The Masjid and its rulings

> Sīrah, Prophets & Islamic History

Stories of Prophet Mūsā and Hārūn عليهما السلام (Part 1 & 2)

Lives of the Ṣaḥābah and companions of the Prophet ﷺ

History of the Muslim world (timeline overview)

The beauty of the Prophet ﷺ (Al-Shamāʾil al-Muḥammadiyyah)
